New Records
New and additional data for manuscripts held by the following member institutions have been recently added to the DS Catalog:
These newly added items now bring the DS Catalog to over 27,000 records representing manuscripts held by 45 member institutions and collections. We continue to encourage those member institutions without records in the DS Catalog to contribute their data. We are also updating data for existing records in the DS Catalog to reflect the most current institutional information and descriptions available.
Annual Meeting Registration
This year’s annual meeting of the DS membership will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. If you plan on joining us either virtually (on Zoom) or in person (at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio), please fill out the following quick registration form: https://forms.gle/yTEgBFEU2DxyY5Hi7.
The morning portion of the annual meeting will be committed to DS-related business, including elections to the DS Board of Directors, ratification of DS Advisory Council member appointments, and formal reports and updates regarding the consortium and the DS Catalog. The afternoon session will be focused on presentations about manuscript collections from The Ohio State University and prospective member Ohio University, as well as a talk from DS Data Curation Fellow Rose McCandless on her experiences with metadata creation for previously undescribed member collections. A full agenda will be available closer to the meeting date.
Manuscript Items in Wikidata
DS continues its project to represent DS Catalog items in Wikidata, one of the world’s largest free and open knowledge bases of structured data. There are now over 3,600 DS-represented manuscript items in Wikidata, placing them alongside items from other international collections to be searched and discovered in one place. We have been happy to collaborate with the WikiProject Manuscripts group to help integrate DS-represented manuscripts in Wikidata.
To view a list of DS-represented items now uploaded to Wikidata, click the following link to go to a pre-populated query in the Wikidata Query Service: https://w.wiki/CK5u. Once there, click on the “Execute Query” button in the left-hand toolbar (the button that looks like a “play” button). The query will run and show you a list of items, with clickable links to their Wikidata records and the ability to download the list.
