Marks of one strap fixed to the front cover and clutching over a pin in the rear cover. The front pastedown (detached) consists of fragments of a court roll (from a trial of 1334), identified by N.R. Ker (note kept in the documentary folder in the Beinecke Library) and copied in Gothica Cursiva Antiquior (Anglicana). - Collection of Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS 2324). Bequest of Norman H. | 2. | San Marino, Huntington Library, HM 36337 | | Description: - ff. 169 - Bound in contemporary (?) calf (varnished later) over oak boards; evidence of a fore edge strap closing to pin on back cover; tabs to mark texts on lower edge of ff. 81, 97, 112; pastedowns removed; spine crudely strengthened with a piece of brown leather (the same repair on the binding of HM 28174, also a Tollemache book). - Written in England in the first third of the thirteenth century. Cloth label on spine: "MS 8." Belonged to the Tollemache Library, Helmingham Hall: n. 24 in the old Helmingham catalogue; label on inside of front cover: "L.J.II.6" altered to "L.H.II.28" and "24" in pencil.
