Digital Scriptorium receives IMLS National Leadership grant

July 25, 2020

The Board of Directors of Digital Scriptorium is excited to announce that the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has just awarded DS a $100,000 National Leadership in Libraries grant. The IMLS grant is for one year to plan the technical rebuilding of the Digital Scriptorium online union catalog and to expand the breadth and diversity of participating collections to include pre-modern manuscripts from all cultures. Digital Scriptorium was among thirty-eight projects out of 155 applications receiving awards. For more information about the grant please visit the IMLS website:

If you do an Awarded Grant Search, you will find more specific information about the award to UPenn on behalf of DS posted under Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania.

DS is grateful to the University of Pennsylvania for serving as our administrative proxy, and indebted to all of you for your generous contributions and support of DS. You will soon be hearing further announcements, including the DS Annual Meeting, which is planned to be held remotely via Zoom on Friday 25 September 2020 at 1:00-3:00 pm EDT. Congratulations to everyone who has helped DS plan a new path for digital manuscript studies of the future!
